Skiing & Boarding

Whistler Skiing & Boarding is a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts. With over 200 marked runs, 16 steep alpine bowls, and three glaciers spread over two massive snow-covered mountains, Whistler is a mecca for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. While the mountain can get busy with Vancouver locals, particularly on weekends and holidays, there is still plenty of space to explore.

If you're new to skiing or snowboarding, you'll appreciate the gentle beginner runs at the base of the mountain and the well-maintained trails that offer an excellent opportunity to improve your skills. Intermediate skiers and snowboarders can enjoy spectacular tree runs, challenging downhill runs, and long groomed trails that will keep your thighs burning.

For advanced skiers and snowboarders, Whistler has an incredible 893 hectares of mountain dedicated to you. The steep alpine bowls, hair-raising chutes, and double black diamond runs will push your limits and give you an unforgettable experience.

Activities

Whistler is a hub of thrilling activities for visitors all year round. While the resort is known for its world-class skiing, there is much more to discover in this outdoor playground. The bustling village center is home to an exciting après-ski scene, with an endless array of top-rated restaurants, bars, and cafes, all open into the small hours.

For adrenaline seekers, there are endless options to explore. You can take a helicopter to the backcountry for some Heli-skiing, experience the rush of snowmobiling, ice fishing, or ziplining, or try your hand at bobsledding down the world's fastest ice track. You can also explore the vibrant village and peruse the endless boutiques.

Whistler also has plenty of family-friendly activities to offer. Kids can burn some energy at the Magic Castle adventure playground in Blackcomb or the Tree Fort in Whistler. For some great family entertainment, don't miss the weekly Fire & Ice show at Whistler Village base every Sunday night from mid-December to early April at 6:30 pm.

Visa and Passport Requirements

Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)

The Government of Canada requires an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) for visits of up to 6 months or to transit via a Canadian airport. All visa-exempt foreign nationals must obtain an eTA before boarding a flight to Canada.


Crossing the Canadian Border with Children

Please note the following in regards to travelling with children into Canada:

  • Parents who share custody of their children should carry copies of the legal custody documents. It is also recommended that they have a letter of authorization from the other custodial parent to take the child on a trip out of the country. Such a letter will confirm that the child is not being abducted or taken against his/her will. The parents’ full name, address and telephone number should be included in the letter of authorization.
  • When travelling with a group of vehicles, parents or guardians should arrive at the border in the same vehicle as the children.
  • Adults who are not parents or guardians should have written permission from the parents or guardians to supervise the children. The permission letter should include addresses and telephone numbers where the parents or guardian can be reached.
  • CBSA officers watch for missing children, and may ask detailed questions about the children who are travelling with you.

Taxes

Goods and Services purchased in British Columbia are currently subject to the 8% PST (Provincial Sales Tax) and 5% GST (Goods and Services Tax). The majority of items such as lift tickets, activities, etc. are subject to one tax (5% GST). Lodging is subject to the 8% PST and 5% GST in addition to the 3% municipal and regional district tax.


Tipping

Tipping is standard practice in British Columbia, Canada. The standard minimum tip is 15 per cent. Tips are generally given to servers, taxi drivers, hairdressers, bartenders, spa therapists, hotel attendants and bellhops.
